With the popularity of T20 Cricket catching up fast , many people are still unaware of the basic rules of Twenty- twenty cricket.

Cricket-T20 helps you to understand the basic rules of the game and changes from one-day cricket.

Rules for T20 Cricket :

The basic rules of Twenty 20 cricket are fundamentally similar to a one inning one day international cricket match. Each team in a Twenty 20 cricket match has a maximum of 20 overs.

Powerplay: The 'powerplay' is six overs in a full match, during which a maximum of two fielders can remain outside the 30-yard circle

Bowling limit: Players can bowl a maximum of one-fifth of the total overs, that is four in a full match of 20 overs per side

Fielding Restrictions:Only 5 fielders can field on the leg side at any point of time. A maximum of two fielders can be outside the ring in the first 6 overs and a maximum of five fielders can be outside the ring for the remaining 14 overs.

Free Hit/No Ball: If the bowler bowls a no-ball as a result of overstepping, the next ball shall be a Free Hit. For this ball, the batsman is not given out by any way in the cricket rules apart from being run-out. The captain cannot change field setting and it will be the same as the previous ball.

Time Restrictions: This rule imposes strict penalties on bowling teams not completing their alloted 20 overs within 75 minutes. As per this rule ofTwenty 20 cricket, a bonus of 6 runs is awarded to the batting team in case the bowling team does not begin their 20th overbefore 75 minutes

Timed out: The next batsman has 90 second after the fall of a wicket to get to the crease. So,the teams do not sit in the pavilion. Instead, they sit in the dug-outs, next to each other, just behind the boundary line.

Tie Breaker : If a Twenty 20 match ends in a tie, the outcome is decided by a concept called bowl-out.
According to this (Bowl Out) Twenty 20 cricket rule, Five bowlers from each side will bowl two deliveries each at the wickets with no batsman at the crease. If the number of wickets is equal after every pair of deliveries by a team, the shootout continues and finishes with a sudden-death, if need be.

Rain: A minimum of five overs should be played if game is altered by rain.
